Notes
- Hunting is permitted only in the species, periods and quotas set by Law 55/2024 (Annex 1) and the Ministry of Environment order for the 2026-27 season; a species may be hunted only within the quota approved for your hunting fund, except fox, jackal, hooded crow and magpie.
- You need a valid hunting card, a firearm permit and the hunting slip issued by the manager of the hunting fund; big game carries a tag.
- Hunted only in hunting funds that have an approved quota for the season; many funds have none, so ask the fund manager.
- Roe deer hunting is suspended nationwide by Ministry of Environment order no. 117 of 24 June 2026 (temporary, pending a new population count), and no resumption has been published. If it resumes, the 2026-27 order allows bucks from 6 June to 1 October and either sex from 1 October to 31 December, by stalking, hide, bait or luring only (the law's annex ends the buck season on 15 October).
- Hunting is allowed only on Saturdays, Sundays and non-working holidays unless the ministry approves other days.
- Introduced species; quota only in Strășeni, Lozova, Bobeica and the Codrii and Plaiul Fagului nature reserves.
- Wild boar quota is unlimited; in the hunting funds Sărata-Rezeși, Căușeni, Leova and Cahul the season is extended to open from the order's publication in June 2026 until 15 February 2027.
- Fox and jackal have an unlimited quota; approved methods start on 6 June, and driven hunts are added from 16 September.
- A maximum number of birds per hunter per day applies to each species.
- Magpie and hooded crow may be hunted without a quota.
- Listed in the law, but no harvest quota is approved for the 2026-27 season, so it cannot be hunted this year.
- Within 1000 m of the state border only stalking, hide, bait, den and luring are allowed, and a Border Police permit is required.
