Notes
- Limited game (moose, red deer, wolf, capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse): you need a hunting permit for the species and class within the State Forest Service quota for the 2026/27 season.
- A valid hunter's season card (1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027) is required to hunt any game, limited or unlimited.
- Moose may be hunted from a stand until driven hunts open on 1 October.
- Bulls up to two years old may be taken with a bull or a hind permit; a calf (under one year, either sex) may be taken with any red deer or moose bull or cow permit of the same species.
- In survey units where the State Forest Service has decided to reduce the red deer population, hinds, calves and young bulls could be hunted from 8 July 2026.
- Roe deer are unlimited game. Does and kids (under one year) open on 15 August; bucks on 1 June.
- Driven hunts (beaters or dogs) are allowed from sunrise to sunset, 1 October to 31 March; for wild boar and red deer only to 31 January, unless the State Forest Service extends it.
- Geese and ducks of this group (greylag goose, coot, teal, gadwall, mallard, garganey, tufted duck, greater scaup, common scoter, goldeneye): 20 August to 14 September only on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, then every day from 15 September.
- Geese and ducks of this group (bean goose, white-fronted goose, Canada goose, pintail, shoveler, wigeon) open only from 15 September to 30 November.
- On public waters a hunter may take at most 10 waterfowl per hunting day.
- Beaver and muskrat: the season runs to 30 April in drainage systems.
- The wolf season ends when the State Forest Service quota is filled, and no later than 31 March; wolf drives are allowed with a State Forest Service permit from 15 July to 30 September.
- Outside the set seasons mammals may be taken only to prevent damage or protect public safety; for wolf, beaver, pine marten, polecat, mountain hare and golden jackal only if there is no satisfactory alternative.
- The State Forest Service may change mammal seasons for damage, disease outbreaks or weather, so check its announcements.
- Non-native or invasive species may be hunted all year; the golden jackal is the exception with its own season.
- The mountain hare has the same season as the European hare but out-of-season taking is tightly restricted.
